WBO #3 and WBO Global Jr Lightweight champion Jeremiah “Low Key” Nakathila continued his world title quest when he blasted out WBO Africa Lightweight champion, Peter Pambeni, in the 8 th round.
Nakathila who now successfully defended his WBO Global Jr Lightweight title for the 2 nd consecutive time after successfully defending his WBO Africa title consecutively before clinching the Global title now improved his record to 19 wins and only 1 loss.
Nakathila started with fight with beautiful power punches chasing the tricky Pambeni all night. Nakathila caught Pambeni with a powerful body punch in the 6th round that send Pambeni on his knees. Nakathila continued his conquest and finally ended the fight in round 8 when the referee came to Pambeni’s defence by stopping the fight.
An excited Nakathila had this to say’ “I knew this was not going to be an easy fight. Pambeni is a great champion but he just faced a much better man tonight. For now, my eyes are set on the world title. I want to fight Herring, and I will fight him anytime any day and anywhere. I know he has a voluntary defence before he
faces his next mandatory. Come on Herring come and fight a real champion in the division to prove your worth”
Nestor Tobias who promotes Nakathila had this to say, “What a great fight. Nakathila is a world champion in the making and the WBO cannot ignore him anymore. When Ito was the champion Nakathila was the next ranked fighter and suddenly Roach Jr came out of nowhere and took his spot. Now is his time and the right thing to do will be to give Nakathila what he deserves, this is to fight Herring for the world title. We are hoping for the best because he fought fellow world rated boxers in the division and now defeated another champion, what else should he do?”
