Former world champion Jeff Lacy (26-4, 18KOs) returned for the first time since an upset decision loss to Dhafir Smith in December 2010, and scored a third round technical knockout over Martin Verdin (20-17-2, 11KOs) at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

At one time Lacy was one of the most feared fighters in boxing, but he was never the same after his decision loss to Joe Calzaghe in 2006, and the left shoulder surgery that followed his win over Vitaliy Tsypko. Some say the shoulder surgery took away Lacy's main weapon - the left hook - which may be true since the win over Verdin was his first victory by knockout since November 2005.
