The interim champion of the flyweight (112 pounds) division, under the World Boxing Association (WBA), Jean Piero Perez (18-3-1, 13KOs), is focused on putting away former champion Juan Carlos Reveco (26-1, 15KOs). Both sides agreed to fight on May 27 in Mendoza, Argentina. Perez has gone unbeaten in his last seven, with the last defeat coming in 2008 by way of a third round stoppage to Rafael Concepcion. He won the interim title in January after decioning Jesus Jiminez. Reveco made a lot of headlines when he refused to face his mandatory challenger Roman Gonzalez, at junior flyweight, after months of hype. Reveco instead made his move to the flyweight division.
