Former light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (27-2-1, 16KOs) advised BoxingScene.com that he's crossing his fingers that a deal is finalized to face Lucian Bute (31-1, 24KOs) in a Canadian super-fight on May 25th. A few weeks ago, BoxingScene first reported that a deal was reached between the respective promoters of the two Canadian stars.

The big sticking point was Pascal being scheduled to face WBC champion Chad Dawson (31-2, 17KOs) on the same May date, with HBO televising. But the fight with Bute is a much bigger event, and a bigger payday, for Pascal.

"I know two things for sure. I'm fighting on May 25th and I'm fighting a southpaw. I hope that I'm going to fight Bute, because if I fight him it's going to be at the Olympic Stadium with 25,000 people. It will be an epic fight in Montreal. It's going to be crazy. It's going to be the biggest fight in Canadian history. That's the fight that I want, that's the fight that the fans want and that's the fight that HBO wants," Pascal told BoxingScene.com.
