Unknown to some, but Camille Estephan of Eye of The Tiger Management recently purchased promotional company InterBox. All of the fighters under their banner are now under Estephan's care.
Currently their main star is former world champion Jean Pascal (30-4-1, 17KOs) and Estephan already has plans for his return.
Estephan is making plans for Pascal to headline a November card, possibly in Montreal. The former champ has been out of the ring since getting stopped by unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev back in January,
"This is one of the options on the table," said Pascal said to the Montreal Journal.
On the short list of potential opponents is Cuban contender Sullivan Barrera (17-1, 12KOs), who has been chasing after Pascal in recent weeks.
Barrera has been out of the ring since getting dominated by Andre Ward over twelve rounds. Should Ward win tomorrow night with Alexander Brand, he will face Kovalev in the fall.
The Journal reports that InterBox has already completed the necessary paperwork for Barrera to obtain a visa in Canada.
"I have no problem with measuring myself against him," added Pascal. "I think Barrera is another one who seeks exposure and is trying to do it with my name."
No determination has been made regarding Pascal's new trainer. He was trained for his last fight by Hall of Famer Freddie Roach. Barrera also parted ways with his last trainer, Abel Sanchez, and hired Derik Santos - who used to work with Kovalev's trainer John David Jackson.
"I had a great experience with Freddie Roach," Pascal mentioned. "I am disappointed not to have been able to show everything that he had taught me in the gym at the last fight against Kovalev. I hope we will have a second chance to do so. There are many things that I will take into consideration before making my decision [regarding my next trainer]. The cost of a camp in California is very expensive."
