Jazza Dickens booked his place in the final of the Golden Contract tournament.

The Liverpudlian came out on top in a gruelling affair at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London.

Dickens had swelling over his left eye early on in the fight, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and ESPN + Stateside, in the second semi-final in the featherweight division.

But he produced something of a career-best performance against Wood to secure a showdown with Ryan Walsh.

Walsh went through to the final after dropping Tyrone McCullagh twice before outpointing the Irishman.

The Cromer fighter, a long-time British champion, wished for a hard fight in which both men left something in the ring and that is exactly what he got.

Dickens, who had his man down in the opener despite it not being called a knockdown, got through to the semis with a points win over Carlos Ramos, while Wood, from Nottingham, stopped Davey Oliver Joyce in the penultimate of 10 rounds back in October.

The win was awarded to George Vaughan and Derry Mathews-trained Jazza after tallies of 95-95, 96-94 and 95-94.

With the victory, Dickens –– who was battered, bloodied and bruised during the contest –– will take home the WBO European featherweight title, previously held by Wood, and will add it to his IBF European crown.

“Everyone wrote me off and I just did what I had to do,” said Dickens in the aftermath. “Leigh is a great fighter and I respect him so much. What happened in the build-up was exactly that. Leigh brought the best out in me and I knew I was the best fighter in the tournament.

“I’m still the very best fighter in the tournament and I’ll prove that when I beat Ryan Walsh.”

Details regarding the final will be revealed in due course.
