In a tight opening round, Gomez landed a good right hand to the body just before the bell. He started quicker in the second, landing a right to the head and asserting his jab as his confidence seemed to swell. He ducked and dived to land a good counter shot with a minute on the clock. Arellano landed a body shot to close out the round. 

In Round 3, Arellano landed a right hand down the pipe to kick things off. However, Gomez replied with a straight left that stunned Arellano but from which he recovered quickly. Gomez landed a big body shot, and it was around this time that it was clear he had broken his opponent's nose. Blood was flowing freely from Arellano's face as the bell rang. 

Gomez loaded up to land a big left hand to the body to open the fourth. Arellano showed more urgency, but Gomez was a little sharper in a tight round. Arellano began the fifth with two aggressive jabs, but the pace slowed other than a body shot by each. Arellano chipped away as the more active fighter in the round. 

The sixth saw another tight round, with the fighters trading leads and counters in what had become a very tactical fight. Arellano’s right eye had begun to bleed again, but he finished the round with a flurry. The seventh was another close back-and-forth round, leaving it open for either fighter to claim the bout in the final round. 

Arellano came out of the gates firing in the eighth, but he was smothered by Gomez. The young Puerto Rican landed a big left to the head, but Arellano would return fire with an urgent combination. Gomez showed poise to land a smart right hook and do the better work in the final minute.

Dominic Valle Takes Out Angel Vazquez in Two

Junior lightweight hopeful Dominic Valle (9-0, 7 KOs) continued the good start to his career with a second-round knockout over Angel Vazquez (12-2, 6 KOs).

Halfway through the first round, Valle landed a smart combination to tilt things his way. He continued his good work with straight right hands, landing to the head and body in a round he dominated. 

Valle’s aggressiveness continued into the second, as he unloaded a combination in the opening 30 seconds while Vazquez was against the ropes. Valle landed more vicious body shots at the hallway stage, but Vazquez hung in there, wincing from the onslaught. Valle landed a big right hand upstairs with Vazquez pinned in the corner, then unleashed another three big shots to the head. With Vazquez out on his feet, the referee jumped in to stop the fight at 2:27.

Yoel Angeloni Floors Michael Williams in the First

Welterweight prospect Yoel Angeloni (3-0, 2 KOs) made short work of Micheal Williams (2-2) with a first-round knockout. The Italian southpaw hit Williams with a big right hook to the chin, followed by a short left hook to the temple that would end the fight.

Williams stayed down, and the referee waved off the fight at 1:14.

Famous Wilson Works Over Nissan Anderson in Wide Decision

Famous Wilson (4-0, 2 KOs) and Nissan Anderson (1-6-2) kicked off the televised broadcast at super middleweight in a four-round contest. Wilson dominated throughout, winning unanimously with scores of 39-37, 40-36 and 40-36.
