Costa Mesa, California - In a hard-fought battle between once-beaten prospects, Javier Molina won an eight round unanimous decision over Joseph Elegele.

Both had their moments in the first two rounds. Molina looked to work inside the guard of Elegele, who was able to counter Molina with left hands to the head. Elegele mixed it up by throwing and landing shots to the body of Molina.

From the third round on, Molina began to get on the inside and beat Elegele to the punch. Molina kept finding a home for counter overhand right hands to the head of the southpaw Elegele.

Whenever Elegele attempted to mount an offense, Molina would quickly snuff it out by landing with straight right hands to the head as well.

Sensing he was down in the fight, Elegele pressed the action in the final two rounds. Elegele was able to create some distance between the two and land lead left hands to the head of Molina. However, it was too little too late as Molina was able to win the decision.

All three judges scored the bout 77-75, 77-75, and 78-74. Boxingscene.com scored the bout 77-75 for Molina, who improves to 13-1, 5 KOs.

Elegele, from Melbourne, FL, falls to 13-2, 10 KOs.
