Jason Harty has put pen to paper and signed a deal to turn professional.
The Limerick middleweight is set to go over under the guidance of Frank Warren after the experienced promoter secured the signature of one of Ireland’s brightest young talents.
Harty, 19, went as far as to win European Schoolboy silver and European Junior Championships gold in the unpaid code as well becoming National Elite Champion at just the second attempt as recently as November.
The details of the deal have yet to be confirmed and it remains to be seen where and with whom Harty, whose twin Jamie also boxes, will train.
John Joyce and Caoimhin Agyarko, the former Irish amateur standouts, are already on the books of Warren, who returns to the promotional fold on Saturday at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, exclusively live on BT Sport in the UK, as Brad Foster defends his British and Commonwealth super-bantamweight titles in a rematch against Lucien Reid.
Details regarding Harty’s professional debut will be revealed in due course.
Meanwhile, Fearghus Quinn is another man to have dropped the vest and headboard in favour of pursuing a career for pay.
“It’s great to now be on the same team as some of the biggest names in boxing and hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to box on the biggest stages,” said Quinn. “I won Ulster and Irish titles as an amateur and got the opportunity to represent Ulster and Ireland all over the world which was a great experience.
“I was made for the professional game and I can’t wait to get my journey started.”
The reigning Ulster middleweight champion has inked a deal with MTK Global and hopes to be able to announce his professional debut –– potentially on a show to be confirmed in Belfast –– in due course.
And Jack Massey has inked an extension to his deal with Frank Warren.
The Chapel-en-le-Frith cruiserweight recently dropped a decision to Richard Riakporhe for the vacant British title at the aforementioned spiritual home of British boxing York Hall.
And the man who is now 16-1 is looking for an exciting year, with details of his return set to be revealed in due course.
