Junior welterweight Jason Cintron (11-1) reflects on his December victory over Martinus Clay and also speaks about his upcoming fight on Saturday versus Maurice Chalmers in this exclusive interview.  Cintron also talks about his career plans and how he thinks his brother Kermit would fair in a potential show down with Paul Williams.

BoxingScene.com:  Last time we spoke was right before you defeated Martinus Clay in December.  Give us your thoughts on that fight?

Jason Cintron:  That fight went exactly how it was supposed to.  It was a tough fight.  He was a tough opponent.  Martinus Clay is tougher than his record showed.  He has been in there with a lot of tough fighters.  It was a good fight for me to come back from the loss to (Henry) Lundy.

BoxingScene.com:  Tell us about the upcoming fight on Saturday with Maurice Chalmers.

Jason Cintron:  Maurice Chalmers (7-9) is another tough opponent.  He fought guys like Andre Berto and James Kirkland so its going to be another tough opponent for me.  I can't look ahead or take him lightly.  That is why you can't always look at the record.  I need to go in there and do what we trained to do in the gym.

BoxingScene.com:  Have you seen any tape of him?

Jason Cintron:  No I haven't seen him fight yet.  That is going to be to his advantage because I don't know anything about him.  I haven't seen him fight.

BoxingScene.com:  Does that mean you are going to go in and stick to your game plan and make him adjust to you?

Jason Cintron:  Yeah basically that is what we are going to do.  I mean we will have our plan and we need to stick to it.  I fight my fight and he can try to change what he is doing to counter it.

BoxingScene.com:  Have you heard if your brother Kermit's fight with Paul Williams is official?

Jason Cintron:  Not that I heard.  I don't think its completely official yet.  I think they are working on a few more details.  It is not completely official.

BoxingScene.com:  Break that fight down for us.

Jason Cintron:  For my brother I think he has a very good chance with his power and stuff.  Paul Williams throws a lot of punches but you know he can be hit.  I just hope it happens.  I will be excited for Kermit.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you think your brother will use the Martinez vs. Williams fight for his blueprint?

Jason Cintron:  From what I heard yeah probably.  I heard of that fight but I didn't get to see much of it.  I guess Martinez got to him and my brother has more power than Martinez and that is probably his advantage.

BoxingScene.com:  How many more fights do you need before you step up to a top 20 rated opponent?

Jason Cintron:  I don't know.  I am leaving that up to my trainer (Marshall Kauffman) and we will see what he says.  I want to get a couple more fights in before I jump up.  We are just taking our steps up one step at a time.

BoxingScene.com:  Is there anyone in particular in the junior welterweight division you want to fight specifically?

Jason Cintron:  I like fighters basically for their styles.  I really like guys like Juan Diaz and Paulie Malignaggi.  They are good fighters and I like their styles.  They throw punches.  That is what I like in boxing.  I like guys who come to fight and not guys who run around and just use defense.

BoxingScene.com:  The junior welterweight division is loaded.  Who do you think wins the unification bout between Devon Alexander and Juan Urango?

Jason Cintron:  For that one I am taking Devon Alexander.  I am not really a big fan of Juan Urango.  I am taking Alexander on that one.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you have a message for the fans?

Jason Cintron:  To the fans I want you guys to come out and watch the pro-am card on February 27th.  If anybody wants to come out they can get tickets at kingsboxing.com.  It is going to be a great night of boxing with a lot of action going on.  Hopefully we see you out there.
