BoxingScene.com speaks to light welterweight Jason Cintron (10-1) about his upcoming fight with Martinus Clay.  Cintron is scheduled to headline on Friday December 4th in Reading, Pennsylvania.  The Puerto Rican boxer is coming off his first pro defeat and speaks about the changes he has made to his training regimen amongst other topics in this BoxingScene.com exclusive interview.

BoxingScene.com:  Tell us about tomorrow's upcoming fight?

Jason Cintron:  It is going to be a tough fight.  It is going to be against Martinus Clay.  He has fought a lot of good guys so I am not looking for the knockout like a lot of people want me to.  I just have to go in there and outbox him.  Just do what I do best.  I am coming off a loss so I have to look good on Friday.

BoxingScene.com:  Is that loss the reason why you haven't fought since April?

Jason Cintron:  Yeah after my last fight I needed some time off.  I just took some time off.  I needed to get my head straight and get back into training.  After a loss like that you need to take some time off and figure yourself out and just get back to training and training hard.

BoxingScene.com:  Have you made any changes to your training regimen or to your team since that loss?

Jason Cintron:  Yes.  Actually with my training we are basically working on putting together more punches.  We aren't just looking to throw one or two punches here and there.  We have been putting together a lot of three to five punch combinations.  That plus we hooked up with a strength and conditioning coach for this fight so we added somebody new to the team.

BoxingScene.com:  Who did you add as strength and conditioning coach?

Jason Cintron:  Junior Washington.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you feel your stamina wasn't where it needed to be and that contributed to your loss?

Jason Cintron:  My stamina was good.  It was just one of those fights where I made a couple of mistakes during the fight and like any other boxer would he (Henry Lundy) made me pay for those mistakes.  My stamina was good.  He was just a better fighter that night.

BoxingScene.com:  Assuming you win Friday what are your plans for 2010?

Jason Cintron:  For next year we actually already have a couple fights scheduled.  I think I am the main event in a fight at the end of February up in Allentown (PA) and then from there we are back in Reading (PA) in May.  That is the plan unless bigger fights come up and other promoters want me to fight on their shows.

BoxingScene.com:  Have you heard anything about your brother Kermit?  Does he have a fight in the works?

Jason Cintron:  No actually I haven't heard anything yet.  He hasn't told me anything.  He has a personal life too.  He has to spend time with kids and things so he has been busy.  He should be back in the ring soon though.  If not in February probably in March.

BoxingScene.com:  Do you have a message for the fans?

Jason Cintron:  I just want the fans to come out and support me like they have always done.  I am going to come out with a victory.  I want to thank them for their support.
