The Filipino manager of IBF minimum weight champion Florante Condes says the hard-hitting Filipino southpaw will defend his title in a rematch against former champion Muhammad Rachman in Manila on February 16, 2008.
Aljoe Jaro told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that he had a conference call with registered promoter Bobby Bostick and his representative Cezar Trevino along with Jaro’s Filipino-American lawyer Ed Anciano and they had agreed to stage the rematch in the Philippines.
He claimed that Bostick had already spoken to the IBF and the world organization said it would not sanction the scheduled title fight between Condes and Mexico’s Raul Garcia in La Paz, scheduled for February next year and earlier approved by IBF Championship Committee chairman Lindsey Tucker.
Efforts by Viva Sports to contact Tucker have so far proved unsuccessful.
Former world welterweight champion Morris East who is in Manila said two days ago that Dante Ortiz who had signed a co-manager’s agreement to handle Condes with Aljoe Jaro was pushing ahead with the Condes-Garcia fight despite his Filipino co-manager’s insistence that Condes won’t fight in his opponent’s hometown. In fact East who was listed as Condes’ trainer in the co-managerial contract as well as the promotional contract with Bobby Bostick said he plans to begin training Condes in Manila shortly.
Aljoe Jaro said that during their overseas telephone conversation Bostick had threatened to sue Ortiz for allegedly “acting by himself” and may include East in the lawsuit.
