Reigning Philippine light flyweight champion Jaro, challenges International Boxing Federation (IBF) Pan Pacific light flyweight king Angky Angkota, of Indonesia in a rematch to take place at Sta. Lucia East Mall in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines.
Organizers of the scheduled 12-round fight, Ailjoe Jaro of Binangonan, Rizal (former television broadcaster - current Mayor Mon Ilagan of Cainta) is in the process of finalizing the date of the event for either December 10 or 11.
It will be the first time Angkota puts the title on the line since winning the vacant crown at 108-pound limit with a controversial technical decision win in the sixth round against Jaro in a televised bout on July 19 at RCTI Studio in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 24-year old Indon has won all of his previous fights against Filipinos. He defeated former PABA champion Marvin Tampus, PBF king Donnie Nietes, one-time World Boxing Association minimum titlist Joma Gamboa, Isidro Lorona, PABA rated Rocky Fuentes, and Wendell Cajoles.
The 23-year old Jaro, a 5-foot-2 slugger-counter puncher with devastating power in his right hand, will become the only Filipino titleholder of the IBF belt if he wins against Angkota.
He will also join current regional champions under other equally prestigious boxing organizations: minimumweight Rodel “Kid Rapido” Mayol, bantamweight Malcolm Tuñacao and super featherweight Randy “Kamaong Bato” Suico of World Boxing Council’s Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF), minimumweight Benjie Sorolla, flyweight Rexon Flores and bantamweight Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista, all of WBO Asia Pacific.
Jaro first attempt to claim an international crown was crushed when he lost by way of a controversial 6th round technical knockout against Monelisi Mhikiza Myekeni for the vacant WBC International light flyweight title, in a Branco Milenkovic-influenced promotion on April 29 at Graceland Hotel Casino in Secunda, South Africa.
