Within the first month of 2015, Dante “Crazy” Jardón managed to find the type of redeeming win to partially atone for a very rough patch in his career. Barely three months into the year, he now enters his next fight and future ring appearances with renewed support.

The free-swinging brawler from Mexico has agreed to extend terms with Promociones del Pueblo, inking a long-term deal with the regional promotional powerhouse. Jardón (25-5, 20KOs) is already reaping the benefits of the arrangement as he slides into an April 25 ring return versus Philippines’ Jeffrey Arienza, in a bout that will air live on Televisa.

Back-to-back losses to Takashi Miura and Adrian Estrella threatened to leave Jardón in the dust, but he managed to climb back on the horse following a 10-round points win over previously unbeaten Patricio Moreno this past January in Mexico.

The win was his first since Aug. ’13, coming after his title-fight knockout loss to Miura and wide decision defeat versus countryman Estrella. The moral victory to be found in the loss to Estrella was that Jardón was the first to go the distance with the unbeaten knockout artist.

Still, Jardón—who turned 27 in January—believes there’s enough fight left in him to serve as more than just a high-profile gatekeeper. The viewpoint is shared by his renewed and long-term handlers who have big plans for what they envision as a still-promising career.

“We will see “Crazy” Jardón back in a world title fight,” promises Promociones del Pueblo’s Oswaldo Küchle.
