Dante "Crazy" Jardon earned his fourth straight win, outslugging Reyes Sanchez en route to a unanimous decision win Saturday evening at Arena Coliseo in Mexico City.
The main event battle between lightweight punchers was spirited but generally in one direction. Jardon managed to get the better of most exchanges, though unable to dent th granite chin of Sanchez, who has fought as high as welterweight and was coming down to lightweight for this contest.
Open scoring had Jardon well in control through rounds four and eight, the latter revealing that Sanchez (25-7-2, 15KOs) was hopelessly behind and needed a knockout in order to win.
It never came close to happening, though never for a lack of trying on the part of the 30-year old veteran.
Jardon improves to 28-2 (23KOs) with the win, coming on the heels of an off-the-canvas 2nd round knockout of Jairo "Doberman" Lopez this past August.
Lopez appeared in the evening's chief support, but was forced to endure his second consecutive defeat. The latest setback came in the form of a 10-round unanimous decision loss to local brawler Juan Jose Martinez (now 24-2, 17KOs).
Ten rounds of war came in the evening's chief support battle. Such a tactic would normally favor Jardon, who tends to throw bombs from beginning to end. This time, he had to keep pace with the 29-year old contender. It proved to no avail, although most ringside observers said the final scorecards could've gone either way.
Instead, all three judges granted Martinez the biggest win of hs career to date. There are already talks of a potential retnat
Both bouts aired live on Televisa TV.
