Japanese super flyweight champion Seiji Tanaka remains unconscious after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot in the brain following a ten round TKO loss in a title defense against Nobuo Nasahiro in Osaka last Sunday night.

Well known Japanese boxing manager and journalist Joe Koizumi informed Manila Standard Today that Tanaka lost consciousness in his dressing room and had to be reused to a hospital near the venue which was the IMP Hall in Osaka. Koizumi said attending surgeons immediately removed the blood clot by boring a hole through Tanaka’s skull which he said "seems to have saved his life."

The 28 year old former champion who was rated No. 7 by the WBA and No. 9 by the WBC remains unconscious in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
