At the La Palestre, Le Cannet, in Alpes-Maritimes, France, British bantamweight Jamie McDonnell (14-2-1,6 KOs) stopped Jerome Arnould (22-4-1, 14 KOs) in the tenth round to win the EBU title. McDonnell dominated nearly all of the action.

McDonnell had control of the action for the first seven rounds with Arnould not being able to adapt. Arnould made a last stand when he tried to stage a late rally in the seventh and eight rounds. In the tenth round, a series of hooks hurt Arnould and pushed him into the ropes. During that exchange Arnould's mouthpiece fell out. A few moments were taken to place it back in but McDonnell went back on the attack and put him down for the win with more hard punches.
