According to a report in the Swindon Advertiser, Commonwealth junior middleweight champion Jamie Cox (16-0, 9KOs), 25-years-old, is threatening to retire from boxing if a lucrative opportunity does not come along from promoter Frank Warren.

“I love boxing but I’m in this game for the money,” said Cox. “It is my job at the end of the day. I’ve had the operation. In terms of the hand it shouldn’t be a problem. My career has been stop-start for me and it’s whether I want to come back too.

“I’ve spoken to Frank Warren and he knows what I want from the sport. If they agree to what I want then I’ll be back but if not then I’ll just be happy staying at home and doing my own thing. If I got a good offer then I could be back as early as September but unless they are big fights then I won’t be coming back.”
