Jamie Conlan has been pulled from his next fight.

The Commonwealth, WBC International Silver and WBO Inter-Continental super-flyweight champion had been set to return this Saturday (June 17) at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast.

But Conlan, who is closing in on a world title shot, will not feature on the ‘Battle of Belfast’ bill.

He was due to keep ticking over on the show in an eight-round contest in front of the BoxNation cameras, but it was revealed on Monday that the undefeated 30-year-old (19-0, 11 KOs) will instead continue preparations for a world title eliminator which has been confirmed for some time.

The card, topped by Paddy Barnes’ clash with Silvio Olteanu for the vacant WBO European flyweight title, is blessed with a cracking all-action lightweight clash between Craig Evans and Stephen Ormond as the Welshman defends his WBO European lightweight belt against the Dubliner.

Jono Carroll faces his MTK Global stablemate Johnny Quigley for the vacant IBF European super-featherweight title, David Oliver Joyce makes his professional debut and there will be action for undefeated prospects Lewis Crocker, Sam Maxwell and Tyrone McKenna.

Manchester-based Ulsterman Steven Ward will fight for the first time over six rounds, Alex Dickenson will also feature on the bill as he makes his debut and Sean McGlinchey as the 24-year-old is set for his second paid outing.

Further details regarding the next move of ‘The Mexican’ Conlan will be revealed in due course.
