Jamie Arthur was hoping to challenge Martin Lindsay for the British super-featherweight title on the 5th of February but now has to sit tight as the fight has been provisionally moved to the 19th of March.
Arthur vented his frustration when speaking with the South Wales Argus. “It's going to take longer to stage the fight than I hoped, but the fact it's in Newport [his hometown] more than makes up for it,” said Arthur.
“It's everything falling into place for me, I said I would return to boxing because I felt I could become a British champion and now my chance has finally arrived. With the bookies I am going to be the underdog for this one, but to be honest, I wouldn't want it any other way.”
Arthur is 16-2 (4) and recently defeated the highly touted Akaash Bhatia to set up the clash with Lindsay; Jamie marked time with a routine win over Mickey Coveney in December.
Lindsay, 27, has been relatively inactive since his thrilling win over Paul Appleby who, like Bhatia, was the favourite going into the contest; Martin is 15-0 (6) and is three years younger than Arthur. However, he had a break of almost seven months after the Appleby fight due to the Setanta meltdown and was taken the distance by Alfred Tetteh in his last contest.
