Heavyweight James Toney held few words back when expressing his feelings on Oscar De La Hoya eight-round TKO loss to Manny Pacquiao. In the opinion of Toney, De La Hoya has fought for way too long to be picking on smaller guys like Pacquiao, who moved up from lightweight to face De La Hoya at welterweight. He thinks De La Hoya should fight one more time to redeem himself because he can't go out like a sissy and a quitter.
"Oscar's a good fighter, but he's fought too many times to be fighting a guy like Manny Pacquiao. Ending it like he did, sitting on the stool, he better come back and redeem himself. He looked like a little sissy. I've been beat up. I never quit," Toney told the Los Angeles Times.
"The Mexican fans who haven't liked him should love him now because he did what their favorite Roberto Duran did 26 years ago: 'No mas.' Oscar can't do that, or he's going to go down as a quitter."
Someone should inform Toney that Duran is not Mexican, he's from Panama. Toney returns on Saturday night against Fres Oquendo at Morongo Casino in California.
