According to reports coming out of England, UK heavyweight Danny Williams (37-6, 30KOs) is being lined up for a fight with former four-division champion, James "Lights Out" Toney (70-6, 43KOs). The fight is slated to take place in London in either May or June.
Promoter Spencer Fearon, is hoping the fight becomes a WBC eliminator for a title shot.
"Danny is not finished and the heavyweight division is wide open," Fearon said. "Toney is a big name and will help Danny's reputation, plus he'll make Danny look like he is in condition!"
Williams made a name for himself by stopping Mike Tyson in 2004, a few months later he was stopped himself by Vitali Klitschko over 8. He also handed Audley Harrison, Matt Skelton and Scott Gammer their first defeats. Toney has not fought since last May, which saw a poor performance on route to a split-decision win over unknown Danny Batchelder. Afterwards, Toney tested positive for an illegal substance and was on the shelf was serving out a suspension. He's nwo in the clear and ready to return.
