According to Dan Rafael, Golden Boy Promotions and Gary Shaw are finalizing a settlement over the promotional rights to junior middleweight prospect James Kirkland (23-0, 20 KOs). Provided the settlement agreement is signed by all, Kirkland will face Brian Vera (16-1, 10 KOs) at the agreed upon weight of 157 1/2, on November 22 in las Vegas with HBO televising.

Vera has been inactive since the shocking upset knockout of middleweight prospect Andy Lee in March. He was also a participant on "the Contender" reality show. The reason for the catch-weight is due to Vera being a middleweight. The fight will be the co-feature to Ricky Hatton vs. Paulie Malignaggi.
