James DeGale wants another home fight –– after four fights abroad.
The IBF super-middleweight champion retained his crown against WBC king Badou Jack back in January at the Barclays Center in New York.
But the 31-year-old (23-1-1, 14 KOs) is keen to box in the UK again for the first time in November 2014.
DeGale, who won his world title against Andre Dirrell in Boston, before defending in Canada and returning to Washington, was ringside at the Indigo at the O2 Arena in London.
And he told Sky Sports, while watching the public workouts ahead of Saturday night’s pay-per-view heavyweight showdown between David Haye and Tony Bellew, that he is itching for a homecoming.
"A big homecoming, I'm coming home," DeGale said, when asked what the future holds.
"I've had an operation on my nose, I'm sorting out my shoulder. Hopefully [I'll fight in the] early part of the summer.”
Options aplenty are on DeGale’s agenda and he is excited about what’s to come
"[I could fight] George Groves,” DeGale continued, “[but] there's a possibility of Callum Smith, my mandatory [Jose Uzcategui], moving up in weight, [or even] moving down in weight.
"I'm a buzz fighter. I want the big fights, the big money and the big arenas, I'm a prize-fighter."
The aforementioned Jose Uzcategui, DeGale’s mandatory, is understood to be boxing Andre Dirrell, a former ‘Chunky’ foe, while the champion recovers from his shoulder injury and the deviated septum on which he had an operation in the aftermath of the draw against Jack.
