Five fights have been announced for the preliminary undercard of Zuffa Boxing’s second show on Paramount+, which will take place on Sunday, February 1.
The broadcast will kick off at 6 p.m. Eastern Time (11 p.m. GMT) from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Topping the prelims is a bout between two fighters with nearly identical records: Jalil Hackett and Roberto Cruz.
Hackett, 11-1 (9 KOs), is a 22-year-old from Washington, D.C. He lost a split decision to Jose Roman Vazquez in December 2024 down at welterweight. Hackett moved up in weight last year, coming in a few pounds above the junior middleweight limit for knockout victories over the 8-0 Elijah Vines and the 17-12 Jose Angulo.
Cruz, 11-1 (7 KOs), is a 28-year-old Puerto Rican fighter living in Texas. He is coming off a seventh-round TKO loss to junior middleweight prospect Andreas Katzourakis this past May.
Hackett vs. Cruz is being advertised as a middleweight bout; Zuffa Boxing is not utilizing all of men’s boxing’s 17 (or 18) weight classes.
Also scheduled for the prelims:
Oscar Perez, 14-0-2 (7 KOs), against Justin Viloria, 11-0 (8 KOs), in an eight-round lightweight bout
Damoni Cato-Cain, 8-1-2 (7 KOs), against Christian Perez, 7-0 (7 KOs), in an eight-rounder with a catchweight of 150lbs
Julian Gomez, 7-3 (2 KOs), against Damazion Vanhouter, 10-0 (7 KOs), in a six-round heavyweight bout
Jamar Talley, 5-0 (4 KOs), against Devonte Williams, 13-3 (6 KOs), in a six-round cruiserweight bout
The three-fight main broadcast will start at 9 p.m. ET (2 a.m. GMT). In the main event, Jose Valenzuela will face Diego Torres in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds.
Valenzuela, 14-3 (9 KOs), is a former junior welterweight titleholder who upset Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz for the WBA belt in August 2024 but lost it in his first defense, a wide defeat to Gary Antuanne Russell last March. This is the first fight back for Valenzuela, a 26-year-old from Mexico living in Washington state, and he’s returning to lightweight for this bout. He is ranked eighth at 135lbs by the WBA.
Torres, 22-1 (19 KOs), is a 28-year-old from Mexico. He was stopped in the eighth round by Raymond Muratalla in late 2023; Muratalla has since become a lightweight titleholder. Torres, meanwhile, has notched four consecutive victories, most recently taking out the 12-3-2 Ridwan Oyekola in the fifth round in August. Torres is ranked 13th at lightweight by the IBF.
In a 10-round middleweight bout, junior middleweight contender Serhii Bohachuk, 26-3 (24 KOs), is back for the first time since his disappointing rematch loss to Brandon Adams in September. Bohachuk will face Radzhab Butaev, 16-1 (12 KOs), a former welterweight contender who’s only fought twice since losing a split decision to Eimantas Stanionis in April 2022.
Also on this show is a 10-round light heavyweight bout between former lineal champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk, 21-2 (17 KOs), and Radivoje Kalajdzic, 29-3 (21 KOs). Coincidentally, Gvozdyk was David Benavidez’s first fight at light heavyweight while Kalajdzic was the same for David Morrell before the two Davids faced off. Kalajdzic hasn’t fought since that decision loss in August 2024; Gvozdyk won a third-round knockout last April against a 9-7-3 opponent.
