New York, New York- From coming back from his first loss and surviving cancer, Danny Jacobs (30-1, 27 KO’s) appreciates every moment he has in the sport of boxing. Headlining an all Brooklyn main event at the Barclays Center while defending his WBA ‘regular’ middleweight title against Peter Quillin(32-0-1, 23 KO’s) is the biggest height of his career this far.
“This is dependable, it doesn’t get any bigger than this, two Brooklynites fighting the main event at the Barclays Center,” Jacobs told BoxingScene.com. “But for me I just feel like I been blessed in my life, the way the story was written and my surviving the cancer to being a world champion, I just feel like I have to do what I do best and I’ll be ok fight night.”
Quillin was once the champion and seen as the main headliner for this fight. Though it may be considered a 50-50 fight, it was Danny Jacobs’ name that is first on the fight poster and was announced last to take the stand at the press conference. To Jacobs it was a long road to becoming the A-Side of the fight.
“This belt around my waist changed that,” Jacobs said while pointing to his middleweight title. “My hard work and dedication changed, and Peter letting go of his title changed. I worked hard the last two years to get to this point. I’m on the A-side and I worked hard to get to this point as the A-side fighter.
