Danish super middleweight contender Jacob Bank improved to 18-0 (10 KOs) after a 12-round stoppage victory over Cuban William Scull.
Bank dominated the fight and Scull, who lives in Germany and was having his first outing since a boring defeat to Canelo Alvarez last May in Saudi Arabia.
Scull was clubbed to the deck twice in the sixth round and was in desperate trouble but the bell saved him for the time being. In the 12th, however, Bank stormed forward and nailed Scull with a right as the Cuban’s back was to the ropes and Scull went down heavily in a heap. Although he made it back to his feet, a weary Scull struggled follow the instructions of the referee to walk forward and the fight was waved off with less than 30 seconds remaining.
Scull is now 23-2 (9 KOs) and it was a statement win by Bank, who dropped to his knees in celebration inside the raucous Sydbank Arena in Kolding, Denmark.
On the undercard, at featherweight, Dina Thorslund won the WBC interim title with a wide decision over Almudena Alvarez, 100-90 (twice) and 99-91.
