WBA super welterweight champion – interim version – Jack Culcay (21-1) defends the title against an opponent to be announced on April 9 in Potsdam on a Sauerland Event promotion shown by ran.de.
Erislandy Lara of Cuba is the WBA's champion at the weight. Floyd Mayweather Jr. held the WBA's 'super' title at 154, which was vacated when he retired last September. The sanctioning body is looking to eliminate the issue of multiple champions in the weight class.
Culcay captured the belt last May with a twelve round unanimous decision over Maurice Weber. He made his first defense in December with another twelve round unanimous decision, over previously undefeated Dennis Hogan.
