According to reports in Germany, Amateur world champion and talented rising German junior middleweight Jack Culcay (8-0, 5KOs) is breaking away from Universum. Culcay's manager Moritz Klatten is telling reporters that Universum is unable to comply with their contractial obligation of supplying his boxer with the necessary number of fights per year. Universum's recent struggles with staging televised shows and events in Germany have been well documented.
Culcay made his pro debut in December of 2009 and fought seven times in 2010, but he's only had one bout in 2011 and the midway point of the year is approaching. Klatten says Universum needs to provide his boxer with at least four fights by the month of November. Universum Vice President Dietmar Poszwa is disputing Klatten's claims, stating that his company has already "offered two fights" to Culcay and aims to supply the remainder before the year is over.
