Come what may from the Chris Eubank Jnr-Conor Benn rematch scheduled for November 15 at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, there will be a parade of UK boxing attractions and up-and-comers to fill out the undercard with plenty of support for the main event.
Former lightweight contender Jack Catterall, newly minted heavyweight Richard Riakporhe and junior welterweight prospect Adam Azim were announced Thursday as participants on “The Ring: Unfinished Business” Eubank-Benn card.
Catterall, 31-2 (13 KOs), who most recently defeated Harlem Eubank – cousin of headliner Chris Eubank Jnr – in July, will take on Botswana-born Englishman Ekow Essuman, 22-1 (8 KOs). Essuman most recently upset former Catterall foil Josh Taylor in May.
Riakporhe, 18-1 (14 KOs), who stopped Kevin Nicolas Espindola in four rounds in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in his heavyweight debut in May, will return home to face Tommy Welch, 16-0 (9 KOs), son of former world heavyweight title challenger Scott Welch.
Meanwhile, Azim, 13-0 (10 KOs), will seek to continue his climb at junior welterweight after a February stoppage of Sergey Lipinets. The 23-year-old Azim, from Slough, Berkshire, UK, will step up to meet Armenia-based Russian Zaur Abdullaev, 20-2 (12 KOs), who has lost only to belt holder Raymond Muratalla and former unified lightweight champ Devin Haney.
Also scheduled for the undercard is 20-year-old flyweight Mikie Tallon, 10-0 (1 KO), who will take on Fezan Shahid, 4-2-2; and junior middleweight Sam Gilley, 18-1-1 (9 KOs), against Ishmael Davis.
