Ivan "Choko" Hernandez (28-8-1, 18KOs), the former world flyweight champion of the World Boxing Organization, is recovering in a satisfactory manner after a clot was removed from his brain at the Ensenada Medical Center. This past Fridau he was knocked out in eleven rounds by Enrique Tinoco at a card that was staged in the city of Baja California.
According to the report of the commissioner Hector Hernandez Vilchis, who supervised the fight, the outcome occurred moments after Ivan suffered a knockdown in the eleventh round. He got up only to fall again from punches that weren't that hard. Hernandez was winning the fight at the time of the stoppage.
After the fight, he was taken to the hospital where he underwent surgery yesterday at 5 pm to remove a brain clot. The forecasts were optimistic.
