WBO junior flyweight champion Ivan Calderon is looking for a unification bout with IBF champ Ulises Solis, and wants it to take place in the summer. Peter Rivera of Puerto Rico Best Boxing, Calderon's co-promoter, says that Solis is interested in the fight and the two sides will continue to talk.
"Ulises has already expressed his interest and his representative has communicated with us several times to tell us that Ulises wants to fight with Caldron and to do a unification fight. We have already made an offer people with Ulises and they are evaluating it," explained Rivera to Primera Hora.
Solis is scheduled to make a tough defense against Brian Viloria on March 15. Viloria has a very good chance to win the fight. Calderon might return in the same month and then face the Solis, if he wins, in the summer.
Calderon had hoped to return on the February 21 undercard to Miguel Cotto-Michael Jennings at New York's Madison Square Garden, but Rivera says that nothing concrete has been discussed, with Top Rank, about the possible appearance on the show.
