After four years, Ivan Calderon (35-2-1, 6KOs) returned to 105 pounds on Saturday night in Puerto Rico. Calderon did not perform as expected, winning a close split decision over Mexico's Felipe Rivas (11-9-1 and 5KOs). Calderon won the fight on two cards, with scores of 97-93 and 96-94, while the third judge saw it 96-94 for Rivas. In February of 2012, Calderon is targeting a shot at the WBO minimumweight champion Moises Fuentes.

"I had to take a rest and use my boxing ability in those later rounds. It's been four years since I've fought at this weight and Felipe is a very strong fighter. I did not place my focus on his record. I turned to my experience as I felt a bit tired in the later rounds. Felipe proved to be a good warrior. Now I'm going to take a small rest and I'll be better prepared for the fight with Fuentes in February," he said.
