When Sergey Kovalev had his tryout match on a Main Events undercard 29 months ago, he earned $5,000. When he topped Bernard Hopkins this past Saturday, he earned at least 100 times that amount at a minimum of half a million bucks. Another report had him pulling in more than $1 million.

“This all was for the glory,” she said. “Next time we’re fighting for money.”

“It’s all about the money. Now it’s time to make the money,” Duva said at another point. “That’s how you become a great fighter and you build a legacy. You take the fights. You don’t worry about the money. You do what you have to do, and once you get there, now it’s time to get paid.”
