WBC super bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez is still relaxing with family and friends while recovering from multiple surgeries to correct a detached retina in his right eye. That hasn't stopped him from going over all of the possible big fights for 2009. In the last few months, multiple fighters have called him out - including WBO champion Juan Manuel Lopez, undisputed super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan and Rafael Marquez.

Vazquez is looking over his options, but the dream fight for him would come against Marco Antonio Barrera, who is currently fighting 13-pounds above Vazquez's division. Vazquez considers Barrera his idol and he would be honored to meet him in the ring. When Barrera was still being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and the company was planning a Marco comeback in the early part of 2008, Vazquez was on the list of potential opponents. But, Barerra was only a super featherweight back then, and is currently fighting as a lightweight.

"There is a whole pile of exciting and important fights that can be done. I still have a lot of goals that I want to accomplish, including my desire to become the undisputed champion at super bantamweight and featherweight," Vazquez told ESTO. "I want to return to the ring against the best, especially against someone like Barrera, who is my idol. If I could choose one fight, that is one that I desire. That would be the one great fight for me. I look to be better in 2009 than I was in the previous year."
