The boxing hotbed of Oxnard, CA had a fight card take place a few weeks ago to satisfy the pallet of local fight fans.
Rather than travel numerous miles, it looks as though boxing will come to these fans on a consistent basis.
Unbeaten junior middleweight Isaac Tadeo will fight Eric Mendez in the scheduled six round main event bout at El Rodeo Community Center in Oxnard, CA on April 19th.
The bout will headline the seven-bout “Danger Zone” card, promoted by Rodriguez Promotions. It will be the inaugural event for the company, which will promote many more boxing cards across the state, especially in the Oxnard area.
Tadeo (4-0, 3 KOs), from La Habra, CA, has not fought since February of last year when he won a four round majority decision over Carl Hill in Shelton, WA.
Mendez (3-1, 2 KOs), from Hawaiian Gardens, CA, stopped Ricardo Pinell in the second round on September 28th in Brooks, CA. He also holds a four majority decision over Carl Hill.
The card will also feature three fighters who reside in the area.
Unbeaten flyweight Daniel Covielles (2-0, 1 KO) of Oxnard will fight Stockton’s Don Jose (0-2) in a scheduled four round bout.
Indian Banuelos (2-1, 1 KO) of Santa Paula will fight Oakland’s Adrian Rodriguez (0-1-1) in a scheduled four round super bantamweight bout.
Mixed martial arts fighter Chris Beal of Ventura will make his professional debut against Norberto Pantaleon (0-2-1) in a scheduled four round lightweight bout.
Three more four round bouts will complete the card. Three amateur bouts featuring local talent will take place before the pro card begins.
Tickets are priced at $35, $50, and $100 for VIP and could be purchased at the door on the day of the fight or by calling (805) 558-0158. Doors open at 4:15PM, with the amateur portion of the card starting at 4:30PM. The professional portion of the card is scheduled to begin at 6PM.
El Rodeo Community Center (formerly known as the Skate Palace) is located at 451 West Hueneme Road in Oxnard.
