By Jhonny Gonzalez
The featherweight fight between former champion Jhonny Gonzalez and Ira Terry is heating up. The fight takes place on July 24 in Campeche, Campeche, Mexico and televised in Mexico by Televisa. Gonzalez (44-7, 38KOs) will put his FECARBOX featherweight on the line against Terry (24-3, 14).
Terry says Gonzalez is rated too high. He is planning on making it a very rough fight because he doesn't think Gonzalez has a strong chin. Gonzalez is the big favorite to win and the entire Mexican community will be cheering him on.
"I am much better than Jhonny Gonzalez. He's going to bite the dust. Everyone thinks they are invincible until they get hit on the jaw and go to sleep, and he's going to sleep," Terry told NotiMex. "I can spoil the party for Gonzalez because he's very close to getting a shot at the WBC featherweight title."
"I have well studied the Jhonny and he has a lot of technical errors. When we get in the ring, it's just going to be me, him, the referee and nothing more."
