During a recent media fuction, BoxingScene.com/Netboxe.com had the pleasure of speaking with Jean Bedard, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of InterBox. Bedard advised us that his company is going to enter a close working relationship with Top Rank. Some of the established stars and prospects in InterBox's stable of boxers will begin to appear on Top Rank promoted shows. Last year, InterBox had planned a similar working relationship with a smaller American outfit, TKO Promotions.
"We even planned to make a series of shows. But the guy, [TKO owner] Chet Koerner, had financial problems. So now, we are going to start working with Top Rank, and it's better," Bedard said.
There will also be some dealings between the two companies on the business side of things. InterBox will handle the distribution of televised Top Rank events in Quebec.
"With Top Rank, when a fight with Pacquiao or Cotto takes place, InterBox will be the representative for Top Rank in Quebec to distribute these battles. We will distribute them to bars, but maybe we will sell them to other institutions as well. Also, often there are events owned by Top Rank that are not presented in Quebec. We will then try to find someone to bring us the signal and present them exclusively. So we'll have more content," Bedard said.
