Heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko revealed on his official website, that the IBF sanctioned last weekend's six-round demolition of Lamon Brewster as a mandatory defense of his title. A very significant move by the sanctioning body because it opens the door for Klitschko to now fight any opponent of his choosing. Of course, they are also ready to sanction an eliminator between Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock, two men Wladimir already knocked out, in order to create a new mandatory to the IBF title.

"From our side it was a voluntary defense, but we received a sanction from the IBF for this to be a mandatory defense since Brewster was the highest available contender in the IBF rankings. I have full freedom to choose my opponent in the next fight." Klitschko said.

He hopes to begin negotiations in the near future with one of the other heavyweight champions.

"I hope that my team will be able to start negotiations with one of the champions. But you must understand it’s quite difficult. I hope it happens. Right now I don’t know when or with whom I will carry out my next fight," Klitschko said. "It all depends on our negotiations and how quick and effective they will be."
