At the Gimnasio Rodrigo M. Quevado in Chihuahua, Mexico, Oscar "Ceviche" Ibarra destroyed Filipino boxer Sonny Boy Jaro in a two rounds. The WBC's silver super flyweight title was on the line. They went to war in the first round with hard exchanges. Ibarra was much stronger and crumbled at the end of the round after getting hurt with a combo to the head. Ibarra dominated the second with hard power punches hurting Jaro badly before the referee stopped the action. Ibarra's record went to 24-4 with 16 knockouts, and Jaro dropped to 31-9-5, 20 knockouts.
On the undercard, Víctor “Nene” Zaleta won a twelve round unanimous decision over Bantigue Lowie of the Philippines. The scores were 115-113, 115-112 and 116-112.
In the third and final battle of Mexico vs. Philippines, Miguel "Mickey" Roman scored a knockout in less than two minutes with a powerful hook to the liver region on Joan de Guia, who was left lying on the canvas.
