Add another name to the "I want Joe Calzaghe" list. At his recent open workout with the media, former three-division champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad told reporters that Calzaghe is one of the main targets on his list for a potential bout in the year.
The UK and Puerto Rican media is buzzing over Trinidad's comments.
"After I win, and I intend to win, there a lot of guys out there but Joe Calzaghe is in my vision and in my future," Trinidad said. "So I will go after him too. There are a lot of fighters out there but Joe Calzaghe is one of them."
Trinidad returns from a near three-year layoff when he takes on Roy Jones Jr. on Jan. 19 in New York's Madison Square Garden. The bout with Jones takes place at the catch-weight of 170-pounds, two-pounds above Calzaghe's current fighting weight of 168, where he reigns as the WBO/WBC/WBA super middleweight champion.
Calzaghe is slated to fight light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins on April 12 in Las Vegas.
