MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV- BoxingScene.com caught up with world class trainer Andre Berto shortly after the final press conference for Saturday's pay-per-view showdown between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Andre Berto.
Hunter, who trains Berto, doesn't feel that his fighter needs to score a knockout to beat Mayweather. He feels that if Berto is able to box to his full capabilities and keep the fight is close, that the judges may give his fighter the close rounds.
He feels that their may be certain people who don't want to see Mayweather reach 49-0 and tie Rocky Marciano's long standing record.
"We just need to win. There are forces out there that don't want to see Floyd tie the record. It is just the way it is. I guarantee you this, if the fight is (close), where he might get a one point nod - I guarantee you he won't get it because they don't want to see him tie this record, right. Just like Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks. They don't want to see him tie it. When Larry Holmes said that, 'he can't carry my jockstrap', he was going to have to knock Michael Spinks out to win that fight.
"There are forces out there, trust me, that don't want to see him win that fight. If that fight is neck and neck close, there is some strange stuff that can probably happen. Trust me," Hunter stated.
