Virgil Hunter, the trainer for super middleweight king Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs), told BoxingScene.com that he believes promoter Eddie Hearn has no intention of placing IBF/WBA "regular" champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22KOs) in the ring with Ward.
Because of Froch's ticket selling abilities in the UK, Hunter says Hearn will attempt to get a few more fights out of Froch before finalizing a deal for a Ward rematch.
Hunter says Hearn, following Froch's rematch victory over Mikkel Kessler last Saturday, was calling for a rematch with Ward. But the trainer points out that Hearn quickly changed his focus the following day to a trilogy match with Kessler.
"Eddie Hearn knows good and well [what will happen] if he puts him in there before he cashed out on him. Hearn needs to try to cash out on him. Hearn is not going to take no chance of putting him in there and he gets beat up and loses his confidence and then Hearn's plans for him will go south," Hunter told BoxingScene.com.
