Japanese boxer Motoki Sasaki has been designated as the next challenger for Humberto Soto, the lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council. The fight will take place on the 25th of June. Antonio "Cañitas" Lozada, Humberto's representative, said there are many possibilities for the venue but it may take place in Guanajuato or Queretaro.

"Sasaki was already approved by the WBC. We are going to hold a press conference in Mexico City. This event will have several fights featuring unbeatens in the lineup. Humberto works at home in the gym and runs in the morning in the Valle de las Navajas. On Wednesday, it's his birthday, and we will begin the sparring. His gift will be one of his sparring partners, Rogelio Castaneda," Lozada laughed.

"Soto is happy and motivated because this fight will be on television. This will be his fourth defense, and the idea is to jump to junior welterweight. The time is crucial at this weight. Sasaki is a good boxer. Like all fighters from Japan, he is very brave. He once fought for the welterweight title and lost on points."

Soto would like big fights at 140 with Marcos Maidana and Erik Morales.
