Humberto Soto and Francisco Lorenzo both initially failed to make the Super Featherweight limit for their WBC interim re-clash on Saturday night. Soto tipped the scales at 650 grams over the category, while Lorenzo beat him by racking 800 grams over.
Standing in Cozumel's broiling sun for half an hour would have been enough to loose the required weight. But both did light workouts and stripped down to their birthday suits to come in right on the button.
Freddy "Papita" Blandon, of Nicaragua who's fighting Guty Espadas in the super flyweight category, was well wide of the mark. He was four kilos too heavy. Guty's camp has accepted the fight if Freddy can shed two kilos within 24 hours.
Svelte Mia St John easily made the welterweight limit. Her Colombian opponent Dary Pardo has not yet arrived. They're contesting Mia's WBC Lady's championship belt.
