It was revealed that Humberto Soto (44-7, 28KOs) will return to action on October 11 against Gamaliel Diaz (23-7, 10KOs) in Torreón, Mexico with the vacant WBC super featherweight title on the line.
Soto has had a run of bad luck during the last year. Back in June, Soto was hit with an injust disqualification in the fourth-round of his bout with Francisco Lorenzo. Then Soto lost a chance to fight Manny Pacquiao after the Filipino fighter agreed to terms with Oscar De La Hoya. Soto is the number-one ranked fighter in the WBC's super featherweight rankings.
Diaz is moving up from featherweight, where he is ranked at number-five. He pulled off upsets over several unbeaten fighters in the past, including Robert Guerrero and Elio Rojas.
