Former champion Humberto "Zorrita" (65-8-2, 35KOs) Soto is hoping to return to the ring on a date in August or September. He was scheduled to fight on the 27th of this month in Carson, but suffered knee injury in camp and withdrew.

Last month he was scheduled to face Frankie Gomez in Texas. Gomez was well over the contract weight limit and the fight was canceled following the official weighin. Then he was set to face Raymundo Beltran on the previously mentioned June date. Breltran tested positive for steroids and eventually was replaced by Jose Felix.

Soto says the injury was minor but he was told to stay off his feet for a period of 15 to 20 days.

"We do not know if it happened when I was training or running," Soto told Fox Deportes. "But the MRI thankfully went well on the meniscus,

""I think it was too much training. But I'm sorry to my people, because I know it would been a great fight. [Golden Boy Promotions] said it will be no problem [to reschedule me for HBO]. They know that it's part of the job, which is to focus on your health first and to heal as soon as possible. I will rest and then either in August or September I will return."
