Unbeaten junior middleweight Hugo Centeno, Jr. will fight Isaac Mendez this Saturday night, manager Joel De La Hoya told Boxingscene.com on Monday afternoon.
The scheduled eight round bout will take place in the city of Playa Del Carmen in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo.
The bout will be part of a Golden Boy Promotions/ Cancun Boxing card, but will not be televised on Televisa in Mexico or Fox Sports in the United States.
The televised main event will be a 12 round bout between light flyweight contenders Pedro Guevara and Mario Rodriguez.
Centeno (18-0, 9 KOs) of Oxnard, CA was victorious in his last bout on March 10th, beating Keandre Leatherwood by unanimous decision over 10 rounds.
Centeno has sparred against the likes of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Peter Quillin at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, CA. However, he mostly spars out of the KO Gym in Oxnard.
Méndez (16-11, 14 KOs) hails from San Buenaventura, Chihuahua, México. He has been stopped in his last four bouts in a row.
