Hotel Fairmont Princess, Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico - Former champion Hugo Cazares (36-7-2, 26KOs) knocked out Adan Garcia (17-6, 12KOs) in the seventh round of a super flyweight contest. A game Garcia was able to hang in there, but he took punishment to the head and body in almost every round. Finally in the seventh, he was dropped hard and stopped.
Also on the card, junior welterweight Roberto Ortiz (22-0-1, 19 KOs) stopped Carlos Urias (45-22-1, 34 KOs) in the sixth to retain the WBC silver title.
