Hughie Fury is two days away from his next fight and doesn’t have an opponent.
The 21-year-old unbeaten heavyweight is set to appear on the undercard of his cousin Tyson’s world heavyweight title challenge against Wladimir Klitschko in Germany.
Fury, who moved to (17-0, 9 KOs) on November 14 with a two-round stoppage of Argentina’s Emilio Ezequiel Zarate in Bristol, was scheduled to face Adnan Redzovic of Bosnia on Saturday at the ESPRIT Arena in Düsseldorf, but it has been revealed that the 38-year-old (16-1, 5 KOs) was pulled from the show.
[Editor's note: BoxingScene.com European News Editor Per Ake Persson informed that Redzovic has been on suspension since 2014 due to anti-doping violations. He has already fought once during that period, drawing the ire of the European Boxing Union and undoubtedly influencing the decision to pull him from this card - JD]
His trainer and father, Peter, told iFL TV: “No, [we don’t have an opponent because] he’s pulled out again.
“So I’m now looking for another bodybag because this is what you get with a lot of them now.
“There are a lot of journeymen who will fight, they’re game, but some of them, I don’t know what it is.
“We’re rallying round now, trying to get somebody, but we’re going to have to get somebody because he’s on the bill, so we’re looking for someone suitable, but to pull out of all times now is ridiculous.”
Redzovic was drafted in after Nicolai Firtha, who had been lined up to face Fury on this card for some time, decided against fighting the six-foot six-inch Manchester man.
